A member on the 8V S3 FB group who works for a dealer in Canada has confirmed from the 2018 order sheet that the 2018 S3 will get the 7-speed dual clutch S-tronic gearbox. No solid confirmation on if US models will get it, but it is safe to assume that it is very likely.
Turnoff the rotten stop start with Carista, being old school and had many automatics from many makes I tend to slip it into neutral ASAP. My Wife has a 64 plate MK3 1.2 DSG SEL with 30k miles it has been faultless, I had a 65 plate Fabia Estate 1.2 DSG had to have the DSG clutches replaced at 20k they started slipping again within 6 weeks had Icertainly don’t have any of the gearbox or throttle response problems mentioned on my 2018 2.0 TSI DQ500 DSG. Must be the emissions control on the newer engines and the different DQ381 DSG gearbox, J.R. 20 February, 2020. Personally I find the 7 speed DSG (DQ381) in my Kodiaq TDI 150 to be very responsive on take-off. Thechanging pattern is more optimized. I seldom need to use sport mode, as the DSG better understands and responds to driver and terrain inputs. If you floor the throttle the van now responds as if in sport mode by dropping multiple gears, yet cruises just the same. The Engine & DSG gearbox now feel fully Optimised.
